Teaching

Literacy Education Innovator, Instructional Facilitator

Inside and outside of the classroom, I have enabled people to understand and harnass the power of storytelling.

At the helm of educational initiatives at the National Edgar Allan Poe Theatre, I support students in the creation of original podcasts based on the short stories of Edgar Allan Poe for streaming on our site and on Baltimore's public radio station, WYPR. I also train teachers in how to implement the curriculum in their classroom.

I have supported literacy in other capacities as well:

Editor and Facilitator

From my work with students crafting their personal statements for their college applications, to engaging them in seminar discussions of key texts, I’ve shepherded them through all stages of the writing and editing process, supporting them to speak confidently in writing and in person with their peers.

Project Manager

I’ve consistently run a diverse classroom of students through the nitty gritty of organizing the learning space to keeping tabs on student attendance and grades, while engaging students in all learning tasks, implementing on-the-spot feedback to meet students where they are and to enable them to exceed their performance goals.

Strategic Planning

Engaging students in group projects is indeed managing teams, and collaborating with colleagues in my field and across departments to plan and execute subject units, reflecting on areas of success and of growth, is strategic planning and data analysis.

I am interested in continuing to facilitate meaningful learning experiences in arts education.
